This is from a short-based novel I wrote for a contest several years ago. Enjoy :-)
ODE TO WISDOM
Darkened soul; clouded mind,
when wisdom comes, you soon shall find
that your dank and gloomy heart
has been in want of the larger part.
Soon shall ye see
the longing deep in thee
shall be not fulfilled
until you yield.
Created for another place were we,
another life is our destiny.
Shall we throw it all away
for the wages of fool’s pay?
Liars! Fools! We think we’re wise!
Who shall open up our eyes?
To my soul, Oh, wisdom come!
Speak to me with gentle tongue.
Then meaning shall take hold of life;
I shall not live in pain and strife,
but live my days in peacefulness .
This foolish world I shall count less.
